About
the Recipe Book
Q:
What type of ingredient is the de Savor wheat as shown
on pages 12-13 of the recipe book?
A: The 'de Savor wheat' is obtained by boiling and then
grinding the wheat grain. It has kept some of the properties
of flour. For example, it gets thicker when mixed with
liquid. Therefore it can be used like flour as in the
recipe on page 60 of the recipe book. But it can also
be used like corn semolina or couscous as for the recipe
on page 38.
About
the wheat grain
Q:
Can I use any wheat grain to make the 'de Savor wheat'?
A: No. Our selected grain is the best to get the right
result. There are different types of wheat grains and
we have selected the one that is suitable for the recipes.
About
the grains/wheat grinder
Q:
Is there a suitable electric grinder available?
A: We are presently looking for one. Most electric grinders
are built to grind dry wheat grain so they tend to jam
when grinding cooked grains. We are in the process of
trying some electric grinders in order to choose one that
will give the best result, for you, with cooked wheat
grain.
Q:
Is the grinder suitable to make flour?
A: Not flour as fine as the flour that is bought from
the shop. In order to obtain the best finesse, play with
the wing nuts by tightening as necessary. You may also
need to grind the same lot twice after tightening the
wing nuts.
