What is a Healthy Diet?

A Healthy Diet includes a variety of food and drink that can provide the important nutrients and elements, such as fibre, that that the body needs in order to function properly. The food and drink that makes a Healthy Diet will vary depending on the part of the world where you live.

In general, a Healthy Diet includes: Food such as:

  • Moderate amount of root vegetables: like potatoes, sweet potatoes, yam, carrots, turnips, parsnips, etc
  • Moderate amount of cereals: like wholegrain wheat, corn, barley, rice, etc
  • Little amount of pulses such as beans, peas and lentils
  • Plenty of fresh fruits and vegetable: There is such a large variety and it depends on where you live
  • Moderate amount of milk and dairy products
  • Little amount of meat, fish, meat products and fish products
  • Little amount of fat, sugar and salt or products rich in fat, sugar and salt.

And drink such as:

  • Plenty of water
  • Modereate amount of Juice/Smoothies made with fruits and vegetables as listed above.

Can a Healthy Diet work under any condition?

A Healthy Diet cannot work under any condition.

The first rule for a Healthy Diet to work is to take it in balance. Excess of anything is not advisable.

The second rule is to create the right condition for a Healthy Diet to work: It is important to decide whether a balanced healthy diet will work while indulging on other harmful substances that are already well know for their negative effects on health .

The third rule is to have self-control on hunger. Eat sufficiently in order to be able to avoid unnecessary snacks. Check the calorie intake guidance for your age/occupation group.
