| Important
facts about wheat |
 |
The
wheat grain is, in fact, made up of three main parts:
the bran (outer layer rich in fibre), the endosperm (middle
part rich in starch) and the germ (inner part rich in
nutrients). The endosperm is the only part used to make
white bread and bakery products.
The
three parts of the wheat put together provide us with:
-
Vitamins, fibre and nutrients from the germ
- Proteins
from the starchy endosperm
- Fibre
from the bran.
The
whole grain wheat contains some A, B and E vitamins, some
folic acid, iron, zinc and some minerals such as selenium
and magnesium. It contains most of the nutrients necessary
to the human organism.

Scientists
have associated the whole grain wheat with better physical
and mental health. They also say that eating whole grains
lessens the risk of diabetes, that the wheat bran fibre
protects against colon cancer and that people who eat
more whole grains have a lower risk of heart diseases.
Wheat
dishes de Savor gives the opportunity to get plenty of
fibre with each meal. A new scientific research shows
that a high fibre diet helps reduce tiredness, helps feel
better and improves energy level. Professor Andrew Smith
of Cardiff University who conducted the study commented
that "The physical benefits of a high fibre diet have
been widely acknowledged amongst health care professionals
for many years, however this is the first time high fibre
intake has been associated with improved mental health."
The
whole grain wheat is also said to have favourable effects
on the skin, the vision and fertility.
